Lena Paul, a well-known personality in the adult entertainment industry, has candidly discussed the newest performance-enhancing trend gaining popularity among male performers.
She revealed that these enhancements are essentially “robot penises” — a technological innovation that enables instant erections at the press of a button.
In addition, Lena Paul shared that she has a smart technique for adjusting the size of her co-stars’ enhancements to match her preferences during scenes.

In a more in-depth conversation, Lena Paul—an AVN and XBIZ award-winning star—opens up to podcast host Holly Randall about a curious trend rapidly gaining traction in the adult film industry.
She reveals that a growing number of male performers are undergoing surgeries to have “robot penises” implanted—a technological upgrade that allows them to achieve erections at the push of a button.
“They all have egos,” Lena explains, noting that her male co-stars often aim for exaggerated enhancements. She admits to subtly adjusting the size during scenes to suit her preference. “So I’ll just reach down there, and it looks like I’m playing with their balls on camera, but really, I’m just pressing the button to deflate it to my ideal size.”
Lena goes on to describe the industry’s shift from using Viagra-style injections—previously administered directly into the penis for immediate arousal—to the now-prevalent robotic implants. She describes this evolution as a natural step forward.
Still, she warns that the innovation isn’t without drawbacks. “When Caverject came along, and guys were injecting their d***s to the point that they were instantly hard, that was fine,” she says. “But you’re putting an expiration date on your penis,” she cautions.

Lena shares the story of a male performer in his early thirties who became so dependent on Caverject injections that they eventually lost their effectiveness.
“And you can’t go back from Caverject to Viagra—you can only move forward,” she says.
She explains that the implant involves a small, button-activated valve inserted into one of the veins of the penis, which can restrict blood flow to produce a nearly instant erection.
According to Lena, this technological fix is becoming more common as production budgets in the industry shrink. A male performer who can deliver consistent results on demand helps save valuable studio time, making him more attractive to producers than those relying on natural arousal.
However, the procedure comes with a significant downside: once implanted, the penis loses its natural ability to become erect without assistance, making the button essential for any future arousal.
“There’s something sad about that,” Lena reflects. “You’re making a decision that will permanently alter the course of your sex life.”

Lena acknowledges the profound, permanent changes to one’s sexual function that some performers undergo in the name of career efficiency.
She also sheds light on the financial burden of such surgical enhancements, noting that the procedure costs around $70,000 (approximately £55,000)—a substantial investment considering the modest earnings of most male performers in mainstream adult films.
According to Lena, male performers typically earn between $300 and $1,000 per scene, often working only once or twice a week.
She voices her own hesitation about the procedure, questioning whether such an extreme step is worth it for an annual income of around $50,000.
“Would I really take the whole inside of my d*** out and replace it with a balloon for $50k a year? I don’t know,” she says, underscoring the serious sacrifices many in the industry make in pursuit of professional success.
